Sometimes a simple re-authentication fixes things:
Chrome's local database file ( Bookmarks ) became corrupted, leading to the default "Bookmarks Bar" being empty or misplaced.
If you use Chrome across multiple devices (like your phone, laptop, and work computer), sync errors can confuse Chrome's cloud memory, causing bookmark locations to revert to old defaults.
